Lead in: Teacher: As a student in Grade 9, you are under a lot of stress. What causes you to have stress? Students look at the pictures and talk about their stress and feelings. 2. Pre-reading: Ask the students to have a prediction before reading according to the pictures and title. (1) Where can we read the article? What does the writer want to tell us? (2) Tick the right ways to deal with stress. (3) Listen and read after the tape to get the main idea and fill in the blanks. 3. While-reading: (1) Read the first paragraph and fill in the blanks. Then learn some language points in paragraph 1. (2) Read the second and third paragraphs and tick the right answer. Then learn some language points in paragraph 2-3. (3) Read the fourth paragraphs and tick the right answer. Then learn some language points in paragraph 4. (4) Read paragraph 5 and tick the right answer. Then learn some language points in paragraph 5.(5) Read paragraph 6-7 and do some multiple choices. Then learn some language points in paragraph 6-7.4. Post-reading: Task 1: Complete the text with right forms of the words. Task 2: Try to retell the text according to the mind map. 5. Activities after reading: (1) Share ideas about stress and ways to deal with stress. Teaching procedures (2) Do some further thinking: 1.)Is stress always our enemy? 2.)
