1. 本课在对希望工程描述时,谈及了什么是希望工程以及希望工程地目的和意义。教师可围
绕“希望工程”这一主题,让学生知道:what is Project Hope?and what is it used for?同时设计各种教学活动让学生体会自己作为未来建设力量地重要性,明白形成正确地人生观,世界观地重要性,增强自己对人类社会发展地责任感和使命感,鼓励学生去关心他人,帮助他人,培养人道,仁爱,同情和利他这些新时期社会建设所需要的最基本的人格。 2. 围绕本课主题“making the world a better place to live”,学生探讨希望工程的概述、希望工
程的目的、希望工程的意义。并在此基础上,展开我们如何参与希望工程建设和怎样关爱社会和回报社会。
3. 本课中是上单元语法的延续和补充——word formation(2)。本单元主要学习词的转化(conversion)和词的合成(compounding)。
4. 设计对话,句型操练等形式,让学生在任务型教学模拟情境中反复操练本单元出现的词的
转化和合成的语法现象。

语法点:
英语构词方法主要有转化、合成和派生三种。 1)由一个词类转化为另一而词类,称为转化,如: Desire n. 愿望 -> desire v. 想要
2)由两个或两个以上地词合成一个词,称作合成,如: Sea + food -> seafood
二、教学设计(Teaching Designs) 教学内容 1、Reading 教学实施建议 作为“希望工程”这一主题的引入,教师可利用“头脑风暴”教学手段,结合合作小组活动方式,让学生列出他们已知的关于希望工程的信息。既让学生知道希望工程的背景知识,又可引出课文的主题。 对于“making the world a better place to live”的引入,先以迈克尔杰克逊的歌曲 “heal the world”引入,通过歌词激发学生对全人类全世界地关爱和责任意识,同时在此基础上,通过对于“ 大眼睛”图片的解读来引出课文,阅读并讲解课文,使学生对希望工程的目的和意义能有更深刻、全面地了解。向像苏明娟一样需要帮助的人伸出自己的援助之手,关注社会,关爱他人。 【链接1】 头脑风暴法的操作建议。 2.Listening 作为教材第页的听力部分,可让学生了解雷锋和雷锋精神。课文第页—— 同时建议教师可利用课本p页的听力指导学生如何学会抓取语篇中的要点。最后我们可以结合听力的内容,展开话题讨论----What can we learn from Lei Feng? 3、Speaking 以 “希望工程”为主题设计口语活动。 活动一:设计问题让学生讨论project hope的定义和重要性 活动二:小组活动围绕“大眼睛”图片复述课文大意 活动三:分组谈论对希望工程的理解和我们如何参与希望工程课文第页——Speaking Practice listening talking and 课本第1页教学资源参考 ——Highlights 部分。 的建设并给出实际有效的建议 活动四:设计一张呼吁大家为四川地震中可怜的孩子们献爱心的海报,课堂展示和介绍自己小组的海报。 【链接2】海报设计活动的一些具体教学建议。 4、Writing Write a letter to the children who suffer from the earthquake in Sichuan province to show your sympathy, your encourage and your willingness to help 5、Structure 词的转化和合成是本课的语法教学内容。教师可通过“从课文中寻找可以转换词性和合成的词”、“举例说明”、“完型填空”三个层次循序渐进,使枯燥的语法讲解与学生的实际运用相结合。 【链接3】词的转化和合成操练的教学建议。 6、Additional 本部分与Unit 1内容直接相关,建议放在最后一课时。本文出Reading 课文第60-62页——Structure 部分 课文第66页Based on the poster design 现的重要词汇与词组:rather than, volunteer, charity, make a ——Additional profit, be responsible for, make commitment to philanthropy 针对“ 慈善,捐助”这一话题,可在学生中开展讨论:如什么是慈善?慈善是不是只是富人们的事情?我们也可以为慈善做点什么? 【链接4】话题讨论的教学建议 Reading 【链接1】 说明: 利用“头脑风暴”是提供学生积极思维的好机会。这一环节的运用既能发挥学生的积极主动性,又能使学生在小组活动中互帮互助。以小组活动方式呈现合作结果,让全体学生都了解什么是希望工程,希望工程的目的以及意义。对希望工程的成就加以补充与学习 1 教师准备空白纸,分发到每一合作小组中。在组员中确定“记录者”;“汇报者”,并明确职责。时间控制在2分钟。 2 3
在“头脑风暴”过程中,“记录者”记录组内成员能想到的所有“希望工程”的相关信息。 请每组“汇报者”报出所罗列的“希望工程”相关信息的总数。以“优胜组”为代表汇报结果。教师可把一些较新,较好的词汇写在黑板上,让全班学生学习。 4 5
请其余各组补充未提及的“希望工程”的信息,共同充实对希望工程的了解。 最后,教师补充一些学生未提及的相关信息。

Project hope is a social welfare program which was established in 19 .

The goal of the non-governmental Project Hope, sponsored by the Communist Youth League (CYL) Central Committee and the China Youth Development Foundation, is to support young dropouts in poverty-stricken areas. China, a developing country, faces a shortage of education funds, especially in poverty-stricken areas. More than 30 million children between the ages of 6-14 are unable to attend school or are forced to drop out, with 84 percent of the total number of related youngsters coming from the countryside. Each year, there are 1 million children deprived of education due to poverty.
Project Hope's short-term goal is to establish grant-in-aid programs in 328 poverty-stricken counties, with the long-term target centered on ensuring that all Chinese children enjoy the basic right to an education as advanced by the United Nations.
Project Hope has helped more than 3.04 million dropouts return to school across China since it was launched 18 years ago.

In groups of 5 or 6, make a poster with the theme of helping the children in Sichuan Step1
Discuss the content and issues addressed in the posters. Brainstorming may be used in the discussion.
1. what are some issues or concerns that children in Sichuan face now? 2. what are some ways to help them?
3. who here has ever volunteered to help anyone? 4. who do you think is the intended audience of the poster? Step2
Design your poster and make it with the joint effort of all the members of the group, taking into consideration the relevant elements. Eg. Design, colour, where to hang, image, intended audience, purpose, symbol, slogan…… Step3
Show and introduce your poster. Have a class critique of the poster. Incorporate the discussion questions into the critiques. After each group’s presentation, comments should be made by the students as well as the teacher.
