摘要：Aminoacetic acid esters of formula I in which R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R. sup.3 areidentical or different hydrocarbon radicals, or any two of these radicals form a carbonring with the carbon atom to which they are attached and R.sup.4 is hydrogen or an alkylradical having 1-4 carbon atoms, are prepared by reacting an &agr;-substituted malonicacid monoamide ester of formula II ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 andR.sup.4 have the meanings above, by the Hofmann degradation reaction, with a

hypohalite in an amount of up to 1.5 equivalents in an aqueous- basic medium containingbase in an amount of 0.8-1.5 equivalents per mol. of starting malonic acid monoamideester II.
