1. of+抽象名词相当于形容词

例句：The ancient painting is of great value（=very valuable).

It is of great importance(=very important).

2. on、with、by等+抽象名词相当于副词

例句：He passed the exam with ease(=easily).

She knocked over the glass on purpose(=purposely).

I took your pen by mistake(=accidentally).

3.抽象名词+itself或all+抽象名词相当于very+形容词

例句：Your mother is kindness itself(=very kind).

The boy is all attention (=very attentive) in class.

二、名词的修饰语

只修饰可数名词的：few、dozen、score(二十）、a great/good many、a number of...

只修饰不可数名词的：little、much、piece、a good/great deal of、a bit of、a+形容词+amount of...

既可修饰可数名词，又可修饰不可数名词的：some、a lot of、plenty of、enough、quantities of、masses of、loads of、tons of、millions of...

成双成对的：a pair of eyes/ears/glasses/shoes/trousers/gloves

三、单复数问题

singers, men servants

2.以辅音字母+o结尾的名词 +es 如:tomatoes 、potatoes 、heroes

以元音字母+o结尾的名词 +s 如：radios、 zoos 特例：pianos

3.以-y结尾的名词，y前为辅音字母时，变y为i再加-es 如：baby--babies city--cities factory--factories

y前为元音字母时，直接加-s 如：boy--boys day--days toy--toys
