Happiness
Happiness may be the most mysterious thing in the world——everyone seeks for it whereas few can eventually achieve it and understandings toward happiness vary from person to person. From my personal perspective, happiness depends on one’s attitude toward life as the famous American writer and lecturer Carnegie once said “remember happiness doesn't depend upon who you are or what you have; it depends solely on what you think”.
Keeping a positive attitude is an indispensable step to approach happiness. There is an old saying that always try to see the glass half full. The story goes that a glass half full of water is placed in front of two people, one always sees things negatively while the other always looks at the bright side of things. Though they see the same glass, negative person finds that the glass is half empty while the positive person is happy to discover that there is still half glass of water left there.
Another essential step to approach happiness is to be satisfied with what you have. A greedy man can never attain happiness since he always wants more and more though he may already accumulate enough material fortune. A Chinese idiom says that happiness lies in contentment. People who always appreciate what they have already gain are able to keep in a state of mental peace and are more likely to live a longer life with happiness.
In a word, attaining happiness is not out of reach, so long as people try to look on the bright side of life and keep a sense of gratitude when thinking about what
they have instead of what they haven’t yet gained.
