摘要：The present document relates to illumination systems. In particular, the presentdocument relates to a method and system for providing power to and for driving solidstate lighting devices such as LED or OLED assemblies. A power converter (410)
configured to convert a varying input voltage at an input into an output voltage at anoutput is described. The power converter (410) is configured to supply the outputvoltage to a solid state lighting, referred to as SSL, device (440) in series with a currentsource (430). The power converter (410) comprises one or more capacitors (411, 412); aplurality of switches (421, 422), configured to couple the one or more capacitors (411,412) with one another, with the input and/or with the output, according to a plurality ofconfigurations; and a control unit (105); wherein the control unit (105) is configured tooperate the power converter (410) in a plurality of operational modes; the plurality ofoperational modes provide a corresponding plurality of different conversion ratiosbetween the input voltage and the output voltage, respectively; a first operational modeof the plurality of operational modes comprises a first phase, during which the one ormore capacitors (411, 412) are arranged in a first configuration from the plurality ofconfigurations, and a second phase, during which the one or more capacitors (411, 412)are arranged in a different second configuration from the plurality of configurations; thecontrol unit (105) is configured to control the plurality of switches (421, 422) to alternatebetween the first phase and the second phase at a commutation cycle rate, therebyoperating the power converter (410) in the first operational mode; and the control unit(105) is configured to set one of the plurality of operational modes based on the varyinginput voltage.
