Hello, everyone. Today I’m very pleased to have an opportunity to talk about some of my teaching ideas. My topic is My Pet taken lesson 25 of Unit 5 in Starting Line (3). It is made up of four parts.

Part 1 . My understanding of this lesson. The analysis of the teaching material.

This lesson is the new lesson, it plays a very important part in the English teaching of this Unit. By studying lesson 25 Ss can improve their reading ability, learn more about the animals and colors . At the same time, we should get the Ss to understand some sentences and do some replace drills. The Ss should do some listening ,speaking and writing, too. Of course, the Ss should receive some moral education. Let the Ss love the animals better and live in harmony between the people and the animals. Teaching aims. Knowledge aim :

1 :Pronounce the words correctly.

2 : To speak the sentences and talk in pairs freely. Ability aim: Use these sentences freely.

Emotional aim: Make the Ss love the animals, and make friends with the animals.

Key points: How to pronounce the words correctly. Teaching difficult points:

How to express the sentences in free.

How to make the animals and the people harmony . Something about the Ss:

1:The Ss have known some words about the animals. 2:They are lack of some other animals.

3:Some Ss are not active in the class because they are afraid of making mistakes.

4:They don’t often use English to express themselves and communicate with others.

Part 2: My teaching theories , methods and aids.

Before dealing with this lesson, I’ll do my best to carry out the following theories.

Make the Ss the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as direct, let the Ss receive some moral education while they are learning the English language. Teaching method: Free discussion method

Pair word or individual work method

Teaching aids:

1:Projector .2: Multimedia. 3:The backboard. Teaching steps:

I have designed the following steps to train their ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially speaking ability.

The entire steps are :

Greetings, sing a song and chant. Revision and lead-in. Presentation . Drills. Consolidation. Discussion. Writing. Draw Pet. Homework . Summary. Step1 : Greetings

Greet the whole class as usual. Step 2: Sing ABC and chant (body) 1: Sing a song.

2: Chant (touch your head/ear/leg…..)

Through this part I give the Ss some time to prepare for the new class. Let them focus on the attention. Step 3: Revision and lead-in.

Review the words about animals we have learned last period. My aim is to consolidate what they studied yesterday. Look at the slides say words and lead-in.

Purpose : Arouse the Ss’ interest of study. Bring the new subject:

My Pet.

Step 4: Presentation

Teach the new sentences and repeat sentences on by one. Purpose: Improve the Ss’ reading ability and listening ability. Step 5: Drills.

After reading the sentences, let the Ss do some oral exercise in free.

Purpose : Give the time to the Ss, let themselves express the sentences in free. Step 6: Discussion

1:Discussion for details of the sentences. I have a ……/ It’s ……

2:The difference between it’s and its. Method : Small group to discuss.

Purpose: Let the Ss know the importance of collaboration, find the method to drill and solve the problem. Step 7: Consolidation

Do some oral exercise in pairs , the teacher to students, group to group.

Purpose : Do some more drills to consolidate the knowledge, from words to sentences, from small group to the whole class. Step 8: writing

Write the sentence both in English and Chinese meanings. Purpose : Through this part ,I want to improve the ability of their writing. Step 9: Draw pets:

Let the Ss draw their own pets in colors . Purpose : Arouse the Ss’ interest of study. Step 10: Homework

Describe your own pets in several sentences. Step 11:Summary

Generalize the key words and main sentences, let the Ss know about them.

Part 4: Blackboard design Unit 5 Lesson 25 What pet do you have ? I have…. What’s its name ? It’s name is…. it’s----its

Purpose: In my opinion, the blackboard design can reflect the teacher’s ability of mastering the material and leading the Ss to master the main knowledge easily.
