摘要：PURPOSE:To obtain star ruby capable of producing bright stars, by heat-treating a star ruby rod produced by the converging floating zone method under specificconditions. CONSTITUTION:0.2-5wt% titanium dioxide is added to a given ruby rawmaterial, and a star ruby rod is produced by the converging floating zone method. Theresultant rod is embedded in powder of titanium dioxide, and heat-treated at 800-1,700deg.C for 10-100hr in an electric furnace to form the titanium dioxide as a solid solution inall the crystal and deposit the titanium dioxide. Thus, the aimed star ruby presentingbright stars is obtained.
